Tarryall Reservoir bite takes work, but pays off!

Tarryall reservoir like Eleven Mile, has been getting a lot of ice fishing pressure and the rainbow trout and cutbows have wised up and the conditions have changed!  A lot of ice fishing reports around the lake are that the bite is tough. Ice thickness varies from 12-14″. The trout haven’t been flying out of the hole, but a little bit of persistence and some dedication to trying different baits has been putting some limits on the ice!  Most days there are several bite windows. It can seem dead one hour and hot the next! Trout have been running 10-14″ with a few in the 15-17″ range.  Most fish have been hangingin out in 4-10 feet of water.  Small spoons and plasitcs have been the ticket, with yellows, oranges, whites, and some greens being good color choices.  If it seems like the fish aren’t interested in your presentation, continue to down size until they are. Most days the fish seem to want a dead stick or a bait sitting completely still.  If you are not seeing fish traffic on your electronics, continue to move around until you do!  If you need help or advice, don’t hesitate to send an email or book an ice trip with one of our experienced Colorado Ice Fishing Guides! Good Luck and God Bless!
