11 Mile Ice Fishing Report: Be Careful!
This 11 Mile ice fishing report is courtesy of Chris Spaulding at Colorado Tackle Pro (in Colorado Springs).
Eleven Mile was completely capped and still has some ice in the 4-6″ range on the west end, but a lot of the ice disappeared with the intense wind storms that came through late last week! Cold temperatures should have these areas freezing soon. Be VERY CAUTIOUS and test the ice frequently so that you don’t fall victim to some of the inconsistencies in ice thickness. Ice fishing has been fair to good most days for trout in the 14-20″ range with bigger fish showing up most days. Small ice jigs and soft plastics tipped with a meal or wax worm have been the ticket and red, pink, and white have been good colors. Ice Fish Colorado Guide, Dj Zimmerman, has been seeing some trophy pike action with a few opportunities at fish in the 30-42″ range each day. Be safe and use extreme caution as conditions change over the next week!
