CURRENT CONDITIONS AND SPRING OPPORTUNITIES:
BLUE MESA– Though we have been fishing part of Blue Mesa out of boats all winter, we are hitting it hard now that ice is gone. We had several trips out this past week and it felt like April on the water, sunny days, glass calm water, and eager fish! The browns are aggressive and eager, we put a good # of Kokanee in the boat on a few different days, and the lake trout bite has been GREAT!
TAYLOR RESERVOIR– We currently still have ice at Taylor Reservoir with only a little bit of surface slush starting near the marina. We are anticipating a few more weeks of ice fishing at Taylor, but also just depends on how the forecast of warm weather pans out.
SOUTH PARK LAKES-We have had open water for a few weeks now. We have heard that Antero boat ramp is opening 5/1, 11 Mile boat ramp opening 4/6, and Spinney opening to shore fishing and hand launch 4/3. Until ramps open, we are offering some great shore fishing opportunities on these lakes if you’re able to get out and walk a bit.
PUEBLO: Many of us here at SFC have been fishing Pueblo Reservoir for years. We are excited to be able to offer Pueblo trips once again! We have been hitting it pretty hard over the last few weeks and catching a variety pack, but mostly targeting the walleye and small mouth. With this early spring, take advantage and get out and enjoy a day on the boat!
MCPHEE– Mcphee has a mid-April boat ramp opening scheduled and we are anxiously anticipating this opening and will keep you up to-date if that changes.
FLY FISHING-WALK TRIPS– Spring is a fantastic time to sneak in some of the best fly fishing of the year before run off hits, and before the rivers get crowded. We are blessed with some very accomplished fly fisherman on our guide staff and this is something you should take advantage off.
