Antero Ice Fishing report/conditions: the bite has been great!
Antero Ice Fishing report/conditions: the bite has been great!
Most of the lake has 10+” of ice with 1-6″ of snow. Fishing has been really good for the first few hours of the day with lots of fish cruising the 6-12′ of water range, especially near weedy areas. Most days orange and yellow, hot pink, and natural-colored plastics and hair jigs have been producing. Be sure to tip your bait with a wax worm or meal worm or piece of shrimp. If you aren’t seeing fish traffic, move 50-100 yards; sometimes a small move makes a big difference! On our trips, we have been seeing fish average 16-18″ with plenty of fish in the 19-23″ range showing up daily and an occasional opportunity at a fish over 23″! One very cool thing we are seeing in Antero is the number of quality brown trout showing up! Some days we are catching 10+ browns a day and the biggest one has been over 25″! This is great to see!
