Blue Mesa Ice Fishing Report: Some “safe Ice

We are finally starting to see night time temperatures that are dipping below 0, but overall it has been a warm fall/start to winter in the Gunnison Valley! Blue Mesa does have 4-10 inches of fish-able ice around the lake city bridge, but the majority of the lake is still open water. Fishing has been fair to good for rainbow trout, brown trout, and a few perch. As always, use extreme caution on early ice as conditions can change quickly, especially when warmer temperatures and wind are present.
